It's time for another refresher class in Trivandrum. These classes are for students who have attended the earlier terrarium workshop.

Refresher Class Trivandrum

In this refresher class, students get an opportunity to make fresh terrarium, renew the old design and build anew. Apart from making new designs or layout, the thought behind refresher class is about meeting and bonding with people who have similar interest in making terrarium.

All the materials, plants and accessories for making terrarium is provided in the class. All you need to bring is the glass container.

It's a free class which open to all the students. If you have extra plants to share then please bring it to the class. I'm also planning to have a plant swap meet in Trivandrum. Looking for you ideas on how to make it a success.

I keep adding plant collection from plant nurseries in Bangalore. Most of these collection are from Indo American nursery at Ulsoor, Garden Care near Chocolate Junction at Ulsoor or spider plants for Kokedama from Association Of People With Disablity Horticulture Training Centre, at Jeevan Bima Nagar, Bangalore.

Perlite at Rs 120 a packet

Krishi Kendra, located at Overbridge Chettikulangara. If you're coming from Ayurveda college side, then take the road behind Pothy's supermarket. This store is on the left side towards the end of the road, in the same compound of Mass Hotel.

At the entrance of the store, saplings of coconut are kept. When you step inside this store, it smells of manure and a cocktail mix of fertilizers. I often wonder how the staff feel about working in the limited space, stacked with all sorts of garden related materials, manures and equipment.

I found this store some time back and it's usually my stop to buy perlite, coco peat and I've bought cans for watering. Price is reasonable here.

Perlite is used for making the potting mix light and airy. For terrarium projects, you can use one part of perlite along with the soil.

Krishi Mitra
This store is some 500 meters to Krishi Mitra, which is more organized, spacious building. The difference of a private sector store and a Government run store there for you to see. One thing I liked about the Krishi Mitra is the kind of information given by the owner. I keep hearing him say about the usage of manure, tips on care and best results. I'll share in detail the picture and location of Krishi Mitra in another post.

I found this plant nursery by chance. On the way from Lalaguda area, I was going towards another place, I happen to cross this street where there are many shops selling plants, pots, manure and garden materials. It was Sunday and many other shops were closed.

I'm a big fan of Purple Turtle Store at Domlur. The beauty of this store is the constant innovation, and the bespoke items made for limited audience. Moreover, the charm of this store is product line which keeps changing according to season. For example, during Diwali time, the theme of the products match with the festivity of lights. Also, during Xmas season, it's a splash of red decor, candles, etc.

These days, I'm more curious about the terrarium which is displayed in the store. The minimalist design, choice of plants and placement of plants all have a classic appeal.
