Selaginella Brownii at Garden Centre Trivandrum

Selaginella Brownii

At Garden Care

This pic was taken at Garden Centre, Kamaleshwaram, Trivandrum. During this time, this particular plant was appearing in many nurseries in Trivandrum. When asked for its name, most would say some kind of fern or some said it's called brain fern and also called Happy Fern.

Selaginella Brownii in Town ( Kraus's Mounding Spikemoss )

Thanks to Google, I landed in this site ( Pumpkinbeth), I finally got the name of the plant right. As the name goes, it has some semblance to selaginella ( club moss). However, it's more delicate plant to grow at home. Most times, the plant I had bought from store has wilted in no time, leaving just an empty pot with a threadbare dried stocks.

As per the info given, it's said that this plant requires shade and soil should be a well drained one

Repotting Haworthia

Haworthia is a common succulent found in most nurseries in Bangalore. I have bought many from the close by plant nurseries - Indo American and Garden Care at Ulsoor.

However, I must say that I haven't tired to propagate these little house plants. One thing that stops me from reporting and making new saplings is my long absence and lack of care during that time I'm away.

Another thing is that I was bit lazy to spend that time to create a new soil for the plant to grow. But, looking at the above video, I got a bit inspired to try repotting and making better soil that what was given from the nursery.

Haworthia Reinwardtii

Haworthia reinwardtii - like most succulents, it prefers under-watering to over-watering.

I often find the names of succulent confusing and hard to remember. So, I plan to post these pics here and on the blog, so that it's easy to revisit and recollect.

This pic was taken at Lalith Florist at Pallimukku, Trivandrum. Apart from cut flowers, they have a small collection of succulents.
