Just as the terrarium class got over, I took a short video using a mobile. The inside of this newly made terrarium was fresh and had the green glow.

As said, there's a time for everything. Time to sow, time to reap, time to bloom.... Now, it's time for a REFRESHER Terrarium class.

This class is open to all students who have attended terrarium class. Feel free to attend this class session so that you can renew or rebuild the terrarium you have made. Also, an opportunity to build afresh in a new container.

The objective is to gain, update and share your ideas on building and maintaining a terrarium.

It's a FREE class. So, mark this date on your calendar and make yourself free to attend this class. If you have extra plants, rocks, drift wood kind of pieces, then feel free to bring it. .

I'm a late comer to the business of teaching and making terrarium. I had no idea what is a terrarium and how to make an enchanting garden in a glass container. The first time I saw a terrarium ( open one) was at Sunday Soul Sante, a flea market sale in Bangalore. It was not exactly a flea market, more of a vibrant group of sellers and a well organized/planned exhibition sort of thing.

Of the many different plants I started to know and learn, fittonia was one of the striking plant. The shades, the colors, the size etc was all unique for me. Though, this plant was not available in most nurseries, I found couple of shops in Bangalore which sells this.

Fittonia Plant Care

This plant prefers indirect sun. Meaning, avoid keeping this plant on bright sunlight area. The ones I have at home are kept on places where there are shade or partially shade.

About watering the fittonia

As their origins are from rain forest area, it's best to keep the soil most. However, don't make the soil soggy.

Plants for terrarium class in Bangalore is brought from two nurseries. Indo American Nursery and Garden Centre at Ulsoor.

In the closed terrarium, fittonia is a must. Often two different shades are planted in the closed jar. These days, I'm creating terraces inside the small spaces. Such experiments and attempts to create new, varied landscape result in natural look to the terrarium.
