What is a Terrarium in Layman's Terms?

A terrarium is a transparent glass or plastic container with plants, often small leaves.

One think to keep in mind while making terrarium is to mimic the natural landscape and create a part of nature inside.

Though terrarium technically means a close container garden, these days people make open and closed ones.

What is usually covered in Terrarium Workshop?

In terrarium workshop ( Trivandrum and Bangalore) I cover the basic aspects of creating a terrarium in a close jar and in a open acquarium container. In the 2 hr class, you will learn how to select the right plants, make the soil and walk you through the history of terrarium and finally you'll make own terrarium in the class.

Sand color Design ( Ideal Gift Piece)

Closed Bottle Terrarium

Green and Red Fittonia

Open Terrarium

Sharing the terrariums made in the class. In the early stages of terrarium workshop, I used to teach sand art design ( basic one). Many students found it as an ideal gift piece. But later I discontinued it as I introduced closed jar terrarium.

Sharing the class pictures of three classes which was taken somewhere in 2018. Earlier when I started the classes, I taught only open terrarium, a open sand art container garden and then a moss terrarium. Now, I have introduced closed terrarium, which I feel is the best way to learn terrarium.
